Breast Lift Incision Options

The ICRS breast-lift material describes lift planning for changes in breast position or nipple position after aging, weight change, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

A periareolar incision follows the border of the areola and may be considered for a limited degree of lift. Vertical and anchor patterns extend beyond the areola and may be required when more skin removal or reshaping is needed.

A shorter scar is not automatically the better operation. The incision pattern must match the amount of laxity, tissue, nipple position, desired volume, symmetry, and whether augmentation or reduction is being considered separately.
